Google Workspace, Session 1: Getting started with Google Workspace

Welcome to Session 1 of the Vadea Google Workspace Course. In this session, you will learn more about how to get started in Google Workspace. We will look at various Google Apps that are useful for teaching. You will learn how to use the Google Chrome browser, how to open a Google Account and how to set up your various devices for using the apps that form part of Google Workspace.

By the end of the session, you will:

  • be able to explain what Google Workspace is
  • understand the value of working in Google Workspace
  • be able to explain how Google Workspace works in the cloud
  • know where the various apps can be found for different devices
  • know how to download and install Google Chrome
  • have created a Google Account
  • know how to sign into and use a Gmail Account (send and reply to emails; forward emails with discernment; create an email signature; organise an Inbox with Gmail Labels and Conversation View; set up Out-of-office Replies)
  • know how to sign into and use Google Calendar (create an event and an appointment schedule)
  • know how to sign into and use Google Drive (create and upload files and folders; organise files and folders; set up sharing and collaboration)
  • be able to point out the similarities and differences between using Google Drive in a browser or on a mobile device
  • know how to set files to be accessed offline
  • know how to use Google Keep
