Using your Windows tablet device to make a real difference in your teaching, Session 2: Apps and content for teaching and learning

Welcome to Session 2 of Using your Windows tablet device to make a real difference in your teaching. In this session – Apps and content for teaching and learning – you will learn more about apps on your tablet device, and how they can be used for improved teaching and learning.

We will cover three key areas during this session.

1. Understanding apps, where we will look at what apps are, how to use the Microsoft Store to find apps, how to install and uninstall apps, and what criteria to use when choosing an app.
2. Understanding widgets, where you will learn what widgets are and how to work with them.
3. Improving productivity with apps, where we will explore different productivity suites, with a focus on Microsoft Office  for Windows tablet devices.

By the end of the session, you will:

• understand what an app is
• be able to navigate the Microsoft Store
• have knowledge of how to download, install and uninstall apps
• understand what the differences are between widgets and apps
• choose an office productivity suite that fits your needs
