Using social media to teach, Session 5: Pinterest in the classroom

Welcome to Pinterest in the classroom. In this session, you will learn how to use Pinterest and then develop the knowledge and skills you need to use Pinterest in pedagogically sound ways in your classroom.

By the end of the session, you will:

• be familiar with a brief history of Pinterest
• be able to talk about the various opportunities that Pinterest presents to teachers
• know how to create a Pinterest Account in a browser in the mobile app
• know how to navigate the various Pinterest Pages and Buttons
• know how to create a Pin
• appreciate the importance of copyright
• understand what Digital Citizenship is
• appreciate the importance of using Pinterest in pedagogically sound ways
• understand four ways of evaluating a Pinterest-based lesson
• analyse lesson plans where Pinterest is used

We will cover four key areas in this session.

1. An introduction to Pinterest.
2. Getting started with Pinterest, where you will learn about the social medium and how to use it.
3. Ideas for using Pinterest in your class.
4. Lesson plans for using Pinterest.
